Anthony P. Alba, a former Los Angeles police lieutenant and a spokesman for the LAPD, has been appointed the police chief in San Fernando, city officials said Tuesday.
The San Fernando City Council named Alba to replace longtime chief Dominick Rivetti, who retired last June.
He takes over a department with 39 sworn officers, patrolling a city of 2.4 square miles.
Alba spent 31 years with the Los Angeles Police Department.
He retired from the LAPD in 1999 to run his own media consulting company.
