Students to Be Tested for Lung Disease

Public health officials are urging more than 200 junior high school students and staff to take tuberculosis tests after a student contracted a contagious form of the lung disease.
The Kern County Public Health Department plans to perform skin tests Tuesday on those who had close contact with the student at Fred L. Thompson Junior High.
The department will test about 600 other students if parents request it, public health officer Claudia Jonah said.
