5 Children Killed in Chicago Apartment Fires
Two children died after firefighters pulled them from a burning apartment on Chicago’s South Side, authorities said. It was the second fire in Chicago in as many days in which children died.
A fire on Friday killed 8-year-old Frankie Ramos and his 3-year-old sister, Samantha, in a home on the city’s West Side. Their 7-year-old sister, Erica, died at Cook County Hospital on Saturday night, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The medical examiner’s office identified the two victims of Saturday’s fire as Miquen Roussell, a 5-year-old girl, and Darrion Walker, a 6-year-old boy. The cause of death had not been determined.
A third child was in critical condition at Christ Children’s Hospital, said Dennis Gault, a Fire Department spokesman.
