Former Sutter Creek Mayor Randy Aspinall was charged with forging checks and embezzling from a Sierra Nevada resort he managed.
Aspinall did not enter a plea during his arraignment Wednesday in Amador County Superior Court on eight felony charges. He is free on $20,000 bail and was ordered to return to court April 17.
Aspinall was in his third term on the City Council when he resigned as mayor before his Feb. 19 arrest.
Court documents said Aspinall admitted to sheriff’s investigators that he forged four checks totaling $4,860 while working as the manager of Plasse’s Resort on Silver Lake.
