Mira Costa Stops Loyola in Four

Pat Nihipali had 25 kills and 13 blocks for Manhattan Beach Mira Costa in a 15-12, 11-15, 15-10, 15-9 victory over host Los Angeles Loyola in a boys’ volleyball nonleague season opener Friday night.
Chris Ahlfeldt added 10 kills for Mira Costa, ranked No. 1 in the Southland by The Times. The Mustangs jumped to a 9-0 lead in the fourth game to help put the match away.
Derek Otte had 21 kills for Loyola, ranked No. 2 by The Times.
