As part of a plea agreement, a 48-year-old man admitted Friday running a red light, broadsiding a car and killing three teenagers.
Kristian Sid Aboy of Ontario will surrender March 22 to spend four months in jail in San Bernardino County. He will then be required to wear an electronic monitor for 21/2 years.
The collision, which occurred Feb. 15, 2001, killed Brien Maloney, 14, Katie Nelson, 15, and Curtis Workman, 14.
The teenagers’ families are upset that the law allowed prosecutors to file only misdemeanor charges in the case and are pressing lawmakers for tougher penalties in such situations.
Aboy must pay $450 per month for the electronic monitoring program.
He will be allowed to go only to work and church, and will have four hours per week to go to the grocery store, his probation officer said.
