Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in Collision

A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a van collided with a truck in Canyon Country, authorities said Thursday.
Lianne Levenson, 51, was turning left onto Soledad Canyon Road at River Circle about 9 a.m. when her van crashed into an eastbound truck carrying lawn-care materials, said Dep. Mike Lorenzi of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. One of the vehicles failed to stop for a red light, he said, but authorities had not determined which one.
Levenson and her passenger, James Woolsey, 44, were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where Levenson was pronounced dead Thursday morning, Lorenzi said. Woolsey is in critical condition.
The truck, driven by Hector Guzman, 33, overturned. He had minor injuries and was treated at the scene, Lorenzi said.
