Bird’s 27 Leads Storm
Sue Bird scored eight of her career-high 27 points in overtime as the Seattle Storm defeated the Minnesota Lynx, 78-68, Tuesday night at Seattle.
Bird, the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, also stole the ball from Betty Lennox in overtime to seal the victory for the Storm (2-1).
Svetlana Abrosimova scored 16 points and had five steals for the Lynx (2-2). Tamika Williams, a teammate of Bird at Connecticut, had 13 points and six rebounds, and Katie Smith scored 14 points.
Washington 97, Utah 89--Vicky Bullet scored 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Mystics to a victory over the Starzz at Salt Lake City.
Orlando 71, Miami 69--Nykesha Sales scored 16 points and Elaine Powell had 13 at Miami as the Miracle ended at eight-game road losing streak.
