Road Leads to Another Loss for Galaxy

Mark Chung scored the second of his two goals in the 76th minute to lead the Colorado Rapids to a 3-2 victory over the Galaxy on Saturday in front of 8,249 at Denver.
“Obviously this loss is a big disappointment for us. We had hoped to get at least nine points on this road trip,” said Galaxy assistant coach Ralph Perez as the team earned only six of a possible 15 points in the five games and has lost three in a row. “Now we have to focus hard on making improvements in a week of training before we take on the Chicago Fire.”
Colorado goalkeeper Scott Garlick stopped six shots and preserved the Rapids’ fourth victory in their last five games with a sprawling save on a shot by Sasha Victorine in the waning minutes.
Carlos Ruiz scored two goals for the Galaxy (4-4-2) to improve his Major League Soccer-leading mark to 10. Ruiz’s second goal in the 65th minute had given the Galaxy a 2-1 lead.
Ruiz put a shot under Garlick’s right arm in the 32nd minute to put the Galaxy ahead 1-0.
Carlos Valderrama tied the game for the Rapids (6-3-1) in the 67th minute, scoring his first goal in two years.

San Jose 2, New England 0-- Ariel Graziani scored two goals against his former team as the Earthquakes (6-3-2) defeated the Revolution (3-5-1) in front of 21,539 at Foxboro, Mass. Richard Mulrooney assisted on both goals.
Dallas 2, Kansas City 2--Dario Fabbro of Argentina scored his first two MLS goals for the Wizards (2-3-4) as they tied the Burn (3-2-5) in front of 7,266 at Kansas City, Mo. Jason Kreis and Joselito Vaca scored for Dallas.

Atlanta 2, San Diego 0--Homare Sawa scored her first goal of the season and had an assist to lead the Beat (4-3-1) over the Spirit (2-4-2) in front of 5,815 at San Diego. It was goalkeeper Brianna Scurry league-leading third shutout of the season.
San Jose 0, Philadelphia 0--CyberRay goalkeeper LaKeysia Beene punched away a free kick by the Charge’s Jenny Benson during second-half stoppage time to preserve the tie in front of 5,903 at Villanova, Pa. San Jose is 3-3-2 and Philadelphia is 5-1-1.
Carolina 4, New York 1--Unni Lehn and Birgit Prinz scored their first goals as the Courage (4-1-2) defeated the Power (2-5-1) in front of 5,156 at Cary, N.C. Tiffeny Millbrett scored for New York.
Washington 0, Boston 0--Boston’s Kristine Lilly missed a penalty kick in the 32nd minute as the Breakers (2-3-3) tied the Freedom (2-4-2) in front of 21,539 at Foxboro, Mass.
