Explosion, Poison Gas Kill 29 at 2 Coal Mines

An explosion rocked one coal mine in China and poison gas filled a second in separate incidents on the same day, killing as many as 29 miners, the official New China News Agency said.
Fifteen miners died Thursday near Badong, a town in the central province of Hebei, after gas rushed in from a defunct mine shaft.
In the other accident, as many as 14 miners were believed killed when a gas explosion ripped through a coal mine near Chaoyang, in the northern province of Liaoning.
