City Orders Response to LAPD Monitor’s Report
- Share via
The City Council on Friday unanimously ordered the Police Commission to respond to an excoriating independent monitor’s report about the Los Angeles Police Department’s implementation of a federal consent decree.
The monitor found that LAPD officials have failed to make changes mandated by the consent decree, and, in some instances, have belittled and undermined efforts to overhaul the agency.
The commission must respond to the report to the council in two weeks.
The commission also must prepare a paragraph-by-paragraph status report on consent decree implementation by July 15.
