Salmon Spawning Largest in Years

Fish experts say a wet early winter has made the number of chinook and coho salmon spawning this season in North Coast creeks and rivers the largest in years.
The December rainstorms and elevated stream levels in watersheds of the Russian and Eel rivers and elsewhere created ideal conditions for the fish, officials said.
“An early, wet season is almost perfect for fish,” said Patrick Ruten of the National Marine Fisheries Service.
