Univision Communications Inc. this week added its flagship Univision television network to three new markets: Philadelphia, Cleveland and Atlanta.
The Los Angeles-based Spanish-language broadcaster acquired the stations from USA Networks Inc. in a 13-station, $1.1-billion deal that closed Monday. Univision also launched its third network, TeleFutura, on 42 stations in 31 markets, including KFTR-TV Channel 46 in Los Angeles.
TeleFutura is the company’s attempt to appeal to a younger, bilingual audience.
Univision broadcasts its primary network on KMEX-TV Channel 34 in Los Angeles. Univision shares closed unchanged at $38.40 on the New York Stock Exchange.
