U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher has accepted a job as the head of a new national health-care center at his alma mater, Morehouse College in Atlanta, an official at the school said.
“We’re planning to announce it [today],” said the official, who asked not to be named. Satcher is expected to be named director of a new center that will focus on primary health care and be based at Morehouse School of Medicine.
Morehouse College is the nation’s largest liberal arts college for black men. Satcher announced last year his intention to step down when his term ends next month.
