SAN SALVADOR — A moderately strong earthquake shook Nicaragua and El Salvador on Sunday, but there were no reports of damage or injuries.
The magnitude 5.4 temblor happened about 12:50 p.m. local time and was centered off the northwest coast of Nicaragua, the U.S. Geological Survey in Golden, Colo., reported.
The quake was felt in the capitals of both countries as well as in central El Salvador.
Last January and February, El Salvador was devastated by two major earthquakes that killed more than 1,200 people and caused millions of dollars in damage.
