OSI Systems to Buy PerkinElmer Assets

OSI Systems Inc. said it will acquire PerkinElmer Inc.’s businesses pertaining to carry-on passenger baggage screening, including service, as well as all technologies and rights associated with PerkinElmer’s ARGUS explosive detection X-ray system.
Hawthorne-based OSI said it will acquire the assets through L-3 Communications, which is acquiring PerkinElmer’s detection system business in a $100-million deal. L-3 in turn agreed to sell some of those Perkin- Elmer operations to OSI.
OSI Systems makes optoelectronic-based components and systems. Its stock, up 220% in the last year, fell 84 cents to close at $17.40 on Nasdaq.
