FEATS OF THE WEEK
* Cara Enright, a sophomore at Fullerton Rosary, scored 18 points in the first quarter of a 55-40 victory over Huntington Beach. She sat out much of the second half and finished with 26.
* Marina tournament most valuable player Ashley Voisinet of Santa Ana Mater Dei scored all 12 of her team’s first-quarter points in a 56-41 victory over Santa Margarita in the championship game.
NOTABLE
* Dayton (Ohio) Chaminade-Julienne, ranked No. 9 in the nation, made 30 of 37 free throws in a 58-44 triple-overtime victory over Brea Olinda. Brea attempted five.
* Charde Houston, a 6-foot-3 sophomore center from San Diego High, made six three-point baskets and scored 53 points in a 124-53 victory over Oceanside. She also scored 61 points in a 96-70 victory over Santee West Hills--on the same day .
MILESTONES
* Chino Hills Ayala defeated then-No. 15 El Dorado, 60-51, on Saturday, giving Coach Mel Sims his 400th career victory.
CLUTCH
* Tiffany Peterson made a three-point shot at the buzzer to give El Monte Arroyo a 56-54 victory over Rialto in the first round of the Serrano tournament last Wednesday.
* Sylvia Parks’ free throw with four seconds left gave Downey Warren a 68-67 victory over Alameda in a tournament semifinal in Phoenix on Friday.
* Brittany Sieger’s basket with 7.4 seconds left gave Ayala a 51-50 victory over North Torrance in the Marina tournament on Thursday.
* Cindy Gates’ free throw with five seconds remaining gave Victorville Silverado a 51-50 victory over San Bernardino Cajon for the Serrano tournament championship.
* Natalia Worth scored 22 points, making 16 of 19 free throws, in Moorpark’s 46-42 victory over Bellflower for the Savanna tournament title.
LOOKING AHEAD
* Thursday in a Channel League game, No. 7 Ventura Buena plays at No. 16 Santa Barbara, and in a Foothill League contest, No. 22 Valencia plays at Saugus.
* The Ayala tournament title will be decided on Saturday. Among the teams vying for the championship are No. 5 Long Beach Poly, No. 15 Westchester, No. 20 Long Beach Wilson, No. 23 La Puente Bishop Amat and No. 24 Pasadena Muir.
* There’s a terrific doubleheader at Lynwood on Saturday: Ninth-ranked Brea Olinda plays No. 1 Lynwood at noon, and No. 6 Artesia plays No. 2 Harbor City Narbonne at 1:30.
