Two collisions that occurred within 15 minutes of each other on the Ventura Freeway near Carmen Drive, one in the northbound lanes and the other on the southbound side, created a commuting nightmare Monday morning.
The first crash, involving two cars, occurred just after 8:30 a.m., officials said. One person was taken to a local hospital with major injuries and another suffered minor injuries.
About 15 minutes later, as motorists heading north slowed near the crash scene, two cars collided, shutting two lanes of the freeway.
