28 Citations Issued as Drag Race Is Broken Up
Police issued 28 citations after the tranquillity of the Solimar Beach Colony north of Ventura was shattered by drag racers, officials said Monday.
The street racers scaled fences and broke through an electronic gate before dawn Sunday in a largely unsuccessful attempt to evade pursuing sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers.
Residents said the street races have become a weekly event along the strip of Pacific Coast Highway behind the gated community.
One of the cars involved in the races was impounded because of multiple vehicle code violations, CHP Officer Dodd Stolworthy said.
