Investigators Identify Man Shot by Officer

Sheriff’s homicide investigators Friday identified the man shot to death by an off-duty Los Angeles police officer in an altercation outside a bar as John Lamar Chavez, 34, of Duarte.
A sheriff’s spokesman said a .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun was recovered from Chavez’s body.
The shooting by LAPD Officer Isaac Lowe, 27, remains under investigation. A companion of Chavez was released after questioning.
