A Lake View Terrace woman was being held Friday on suspicion of attempted murder after she allegedly slashed her 5-year-old son’s wrists with a razor blade and then cut her own.
Bernadette Marks, 37, was spotted by neighbors at 12:25 p.m. walking along the sidewalk in the 11600 block of Kismet Avenue, bloodied and carrying her son in her arms, Los Angeles police said.
“They were both bleeding badly,” Officer Don Cox said. “It appeared the boy was more severely injured than the mother.”
Marks was treated at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center and transferred to Twin Towers jail, where she is being held in lieu of $1-million bail. Her son was in stable condition late Friday at Childrens Hospital.
Police said Marks had a history of mental problems.
