Roy Gustafson, 87; Longtime Evangelist With Graham Group
Roy Gustafson, 87, longtime associate evangelist with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn., died Friday in Raleigh, N.C., of unstated causes.
Gustafson and Graham were students at the Florida Bible Institute in Tampa at the same time. Gustafson was ordained as a Baptist minister and served many years as pastor of an Arizona church. He joined the Graham group in 1959, and during his work for the association took more than 150 trips to the Middle East to teach Christianity.
Gustafson officially retired in 1986, but continued to make international trips on behalf of the evangelical group. He specialized in lessons about the Bible.
