Three French Impressionist oil paintings, valued at about $500,000, were donated to Cal State Northridge this week--the largest gift of art in the school’s history, university officials said.
Ernest Warsaw, 81, of Century City gave the paintings to CSUN because he was impressed by the school’s effort to create a new art collection.
The centerpiece of the gift, Maurice de Vlaminck’s “La Ferme de la Haute-Foli,” is worth about $375,000, said David Moon, chairman of the school’s art department. “This is the prized one we were flabbergasted by,” Moon said.
