Writers Guild Members Authorize CBS Strike

The Writers Guild of America, a union representing writers, editors and graphic artists, said members in four cities whose contract expired April 1 authorized a strike against Viacom Inc.’s CBS news division.
Ninety-eight percent of Guild members in New York, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles backed the measure, which would affect CBS’ radio and television operations, the group said. Talks are continuing, and union members have agreed to work through Friday night.
