Water District to Reduce Number of Board Seats
- Share via
The seven-member South Coast Water District Board of Directors has voted to reduce its size to five seats.
To implement the reduction, the district will hold an election for two directors in November, even though four terms are expiring. Also, board members will now be elected at-large, rather than by geographic area.
The district provides water and sewer services to 12,500 residential and business customers in Dana Point, South Laguna Beach, south San Juan Capistrano and north coastal San Clemente.
The change is being made “in the interests of greater efficiency and cost savings,” board president Ray Benedicktus said.
