Demanding or Difficult?
Regarding “Building Can Be a Bumpy Ride” (Part II) by Lew Sichelman, Sept. 23:
Indeed it is. We are currently remodeling our fifth house and have experienced most of the problems you outlined.
On one point I would disagree, and that is when nothing happens. On the first couple of jobs I went with the flow and found out that the squeaky wheel does get the grease. Contractors and subs have to cover complainers first. Now I would never let a job stand idle for a week.
There is a difference between being demanding and being difficult. Most guys will respect demanding as long as it’s not whining. And that can be a fine line.
