Blakey Takes Reins of Transportation Board
From Times Staff Reports
Marion Blakey was sworn in as chairwoman of the National Transportation Safety Board, the first Bush administration appointee to serve on the board.
Blakey, a former head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, replaced Carol Carmody, who became acting chairwoman after Jim Hall left in January.
Blakey, who has a long record of public service in various federal posts, spent the last eight years running a Washington public affairs consulting firm that concentrated on transportation issues and traffic safety.
