Suspect in 1998 Murder Arrested in New Mexico
A 19-year-old sought in connection with a 1998 shooting after a traffic dispute has been arrested in New Mexico, police said Tuesday.
Pedro Jesse Sanchez, 19, is being held at the Bernalillo County Detention Center and is expected to be brought back to Orange County to face charges in the 1998 murder of Chad Huber, 20, formerly of Buena Park.
Police said Huber and two companions in a car traveling on Los Alamitos Boulevard got into an argument with three men in a pickup truck. When the two groups reached Katella Avenue, Huber and Sanchez, who was in the truck, got out, and Sanchez fired shots at Huber, then fled, police said. Huber died at Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
Sanchez was arrested in Albuquerque last week in connection with a murder there Sept. 12, Los Alamitos police Capt. Todd Mattern said.
