U.S. Gasoline Prices Steady for the Week
Average U.S. gasoline prices barely budged in the last week after terror attacks in New York and Washington, the Energy Information Administration said.
Last Tuesday and Wednesday brought scattered reports of price gouging, but major refiners froze wholesale prices and several widely followed gasoline price averages showed little movement.
The EIA’s weekly survey of about 900 service stations, conducted each Monday, found the U.S. average price for self-serve regular gasoline was $1.529 a gallon, up only two-tenths of a penny.
In California, the price declined to $1.717 from $1.722. In Los Angeles, the average was $1.626, down 1.8 cents, and in San Francisco, the average was $1.878, down 1.1 cents.
