Launching a five-concert chamber music series dedicated to the music of Beethoven, the Pacific Symphony will present pianist Christopher O’Riley and several Pacific principal players in a cabaret-style environment. On tap will be the Sonata No. 10 for Violin and Piano, Sonata No. 2 for Cello and Piano, and the Septet in E-flat, Opus 20.

Opera Pacific will focus on Verdi for its third annual “Festa Italiana” at the Irvine Bowl. The outdoor season-opening program will include excerpts from “Don Carlo,” “Il Trovatore,” “Un Ballo in Maschera,” “Aida” and other Verdi operas. The soloists will include sopranos Mariana Zvetkova, mezzo-soprano Marianne Cornetti, tenor Eduardo Villa, baritone Gordon Hawkins and other singers. Company artistic director John DeMain will conduct.
The company’s subscription series at the Orange County Performing Arts Center will open Nov. 6 with Verdi’s “Rigoletto.”
