Compton Dominguez 30, Downey 0--Justin Wyatt completed six of 14 passes for 107 yards and rushed for 162 yards in 13 carries for the Dons (4-4, 3-0) in a San Gabriel Valley League victory at Dominguez.
Wyatt, a senior who has committed to USC, threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Timothy Simmons to give Dominguez a 14-0 lead late in the first quarter.
Jason President finished with 129 yards in nine carries, including a 74-yard touchdown run. Timothy Mixon scored on a five-yard run on the Dons’ first possession and also scored on a 68-yard punt return.
Jason Cooper caught three passes for 98 yards for the Dons, who lost nonleague games to Inglewood, Long Beach Jordan, Fountain Valley and Righetti by four points or fewer.
Dominguez was penalized 12 times for 117 yards and had two touchdowns called back on holding infractions.
Defensive end Lou Davis blocked a punt at Downey’s 11-yard line and the ball rolled out of the back of the end zone for a safety that gave Dominguez a 16-0 lead in the third quarter.
Randy Counterman led Downey (5-3, 2-1) with 112 yards in 21 carries. Downey drove to the Dons’ four-yard line in the second quarter, but David Martinez was sacked by Lajuan Ramsey on fourth down.
