Oiling the Economy
Re “Running Ads Up the Flagpole,” Oct. 18: If advertisers are walking a fine line between patriotism and opportunism, Ford and General Motors have crossed that line by equating car sales with national recovery. Let’s not forget that our nation’s tangled and often bloody involvement in the Middle East is due largely to our demand for cheap oil. Buying a new gas guzzler is not a viable solution to current problems.
