Juvenile Hall Project Advances
From Times Staff Reports
Ventura County’s planned new juvenile hall took a step forward this week with the state’s authorization to create a capital funds account for construction.
Ventura County government can now take out the estimated $24 million in bonds it needs to finance its portion of the $64-million Juvenile Justice Center slated for El Rio. The state has already kicked in $40 million toward construction costs.
The legislation, a formality needed to create construction accounts, was carried by Assemblywoman Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara).
