Television actress Shannen Doherty was ordered Tuesday to serve five days in a work-release program for a December drunk-driving arrest in Thousand Oaks.
Doherty, 30, who had pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges, could have faced two days in jail. But a Ventura County judge imposed the minimum sentence based on lectures Doherty gave to teens about the dangers of driving while intoxicated. She also received three years of probation.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Ian Morse said Doherty will probably serve her five days of work-release picking up freeway trash..
Doherty, former star of television’s “Beverly Hills 90210” and “Charmed,” was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on Dec. 28 with a blood-alcohol level of .13%. The legal limit is .08%.
