Father of 3 Shot, Killed in Car Outside His Home

An Artesia father of three was shot and killed by an unknown assailant outside his home late Friday night.

Sitting in his car on a street near Pioneer Boulevard and Arkansas Street, William Gline was approached by five men about 11:15 p.m., according to sheriff’s spokesman Det. Sonia Parra. One of the men took out a handgun and shot Gline, 25, through the car’s windshield. Hit once in the head, Gline died at the scene.

Gline’s wife, Veronica, said she was told by a family member that her husband argued with a group of men earlier Friday evening. She said her husband drove home in an effort to get away from the men.
