The Los Angeles Episcopal Diocese will hold its annual Meeting of Diocesan Convention from 1 p.m. Friday through 5 p.m. next Saturday at the Riverside Convention Center, 3443 Orange Ave., Riverside.
About 1,000 delegates, clergy and laity from the 147 congregations of the six-county diocese will participate in the meeting’s legislative and liturgical sessions.
The convention will recognize the retirement of Bishop Frederick H. Borsch as the diocese’s chief pastor and executive officer. Borsch was elected diocesan bishop in 1998 and will officially retire Jan. 31 after 14 years.
Borsch will pass the corsier, the historical pastoral staff carried by the diocesan bishop, to his successor, Bishop Coadjutor J. Jon Bruno.
A celebration of Borsch’s Episcopal ministry is planned for Friday’s dinner program at 7 p.m. Tickets are $32. For tickets contact Earleen Larson at (562) 498-0224.
