Police are searching for a driver who left the scene of an accident Tuesday after running over and seriously injuring a 2-year-old boy, authorities said.
The child, Jose Lozano, scampered from his mother in a parking lot near Gage and Wilmington avenues when he ran into a moving minivan, said Huntington Park Police Lt. Carl Heintz. The boy was run over by the car’s rear wheels, Heintz said.
The boy is recovering from internal injuries at a hospital. The vehicle is described as possibly a late ‘80s or early ‘90s GMC Safari with Navy blue, light blue and cream colored stripes. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (323) 584-6254.
