Lancers’ Title Bid a Tall Order
To win the school’s first Southern Section softball championship, Thousand Oaks High will have to do something two other area ranked teams could not: beat Whittier California.
Thousand Oaks (25-5) will face California on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Division II championship game at Barber Memorial Park in Irvine.
California (25-4), Del Rio League co-champion, eliminated Rio Mesa, 1-0, in a second-round game and Hart, 3-1, in a quarterfinal.
Rio Mesa was ranked No. 2 in the region, with Hart No. 4 and Thousand Oaks No. 5.
In other championship games at Barber Memorial Park, Oaks Christian plays Linfield in Division VI at 5 p.m. Friday. Paraclete faces Orange Lutheran in Division V at 10 a.m. Saturday.
