Team Penske’s 1-2 Punch Is Worth $1.75 Million

INDIANAPOLIS — First and second place in Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 were worth $1,753,250 to Team Penske.
Winner Helio Castroneves won $1,270,475 of the record purse of $9,615,325 and runner-up Gil de Ferran earned $482,775.
Michael Andretti, third-place finisher, won $346,225, and the four-car Target/Chip Ganassi team collected $857,575 for finishing fourth, fifth, sixth and 29th.
Jimmy Vasser was fourth in one of Ganassi’s cars, followed by rookie Bruno Junqueira and Winston Cup driver Tony Stewart.
