DANA POINT

This year’s two-day Doheny Blues Festival offers as strong a lineup as any, from such veterans as bandleader John Mayall and singer-guitarsit Taj Mahal to more recent arrivals including Keb’ Mo’, Shemekia Copeland and Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers. Blues Traveler (with mile-a-minute harmonica man John Popper) is back in action and headlines Saturday’s bill, but if there’s a single don’t-miss act on the lengthy bill, it would have to be the venerable Blind Boys of Alabama, one of the great gospel groups ever, playing Sunday.
* Doheny Blues Festival, Doheny State Beach, Dana Point. $30 per day, general; $10 for kids 3-12. $50 for a two-day pass. 10:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. both days. www.omegaevents.com. (949) 262-2662.
