Jaywalking Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Pickup

A man jaywalking across a busy Van Nuys street was struck by a pickup truck and killed Wednesday, authorities said.
The accident occurred at 9:15 p.m. on Vanowen Street near the Hollywood Freeway. The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Panorama City, where he died.
The driver was not charged.
