Power Knocked Out After Truck Hits Poles
A pickup truck spun out of control, shearing off two power poles in Ventura on Friday morning, briefly knocking out electricity to 7,050 customers, officials said.
Ventura police say the truck hit the poles at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Wake Forest Avenue at about 10 a.m., knocking down a transmission line and disrupting traffic for eight hours.
The driver, Katherine Malzacher, 32, of Hermosa Beach, suffered minor injuries, police said.
Rudy Gonzales, regional manager for Southern California Edison, said the initial outage lasted 30 seconds. Afterward, about 230 customers in east Ventura remained without power for most of the day.
