Library to Celebrate Its Place in History

The last remaining Carnegie library in Orange County will be dedicated Wednesday in a ceremony to celebrate its historic status.
Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie provided a $10,000 grant to help build the library in 1908. It was the first building used exclusively as a library in Anaheim.
The building, at 241 S. Anaheim Blvd., was one of five Carnegie-funded libraries in Orange County and the only one that remains.
The library was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It has housed the Anaheim Museum since 1986.
In Wednesday’s 6 p.m. ceremony, a plaque to be permanently affixed to the building will be unveiled.
