Region’s Leaders Sign Development Plan
The presidents of Central America joined Mexico in “a great alliance” to improve life in some of the hemisphere’s poorest areas.
The chief executives signed a joint declaration in El Salvador’s capital, San Salvador, in favor of the so-called Plan Puebla-Panama, which promotes tourism, trade, education, environmental care and anti-disaster planning.
It would ease red tape on travel among the countries while also improving road, rail, air and sea links.
The plan also foresees a long-term linking of power, telephone and gas grids in the region stretching from Mexico’s Puebla state to Panama.
