Apparent Bomb Blast Kills Man Near Home
One person was killed in an apparent bomb blast outside a home in Winnemucca, Nev. Federal agents were on the way to the scene and a bomb squad was searching for other possible explosives.
A dozen sheriff’s deputies and police officers cordoned off the area where a man apparently was killed in the blast outside a mobile home on the city’s south side.
The explosion was heard over a five-block area. A preliminary investigation indicated the blast came from a bomb, as opposed to a natural gas pipeline or other source, said Lt. Brian Jonas of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators are fairly confident the victim was a male, Jonas said. But he said the remains were spread over a large area and are “completely unidentifiable.”
