Milosevic Security Chief, 3 Aides Go on Trial

Serbia’s former secret police chief and three other top security aides of former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic appeared in court on charges of revealing state secrets.
Rade Markovic, the once-feared head of state security, and Nikola Curcic, Branko Crni and Milan Radonjic are the first top Milosevic aides to be tried since his fall from power in October.
They are accused of allowing unauthorized people to see confidential papers and computer data while destroying the information after Milosevic’s ouster. They also allegedly removed confidential data, which is considered a violation of state secrecy laws.
