McKay Is a Finalist for Bear Job
J.K. McKay, former general manager of the Los Angeles Xtreme of the now-defunct XFL, is a finalist to replace Mark Hatley as vice president of player personnel for the Chicago Bears.
Other finalists include Tom Modrak, former general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles; Jerry Angelo, pro personnel director for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; and Phil Savage, director of scouting for the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens.
McKay declined comment.
Meanwhile, a deal that would have sent former Xtreme quarterback Tommy Maddox, the XFL’s most valuable player, to the Calgary Stampede of the Canadian Football League has fallen through. Maddox cited family problems as the reason for nixing the deal.
