Teaching Reading
Bravo to First Lady Laura Bush for pushing scientific methods to teach reading at her White House summit on early childhood education (July 27). Nothing expands a child’s vocabulary like reading or frequent visits to a library. Or as the erudite essayist Francis Bacon put it: “Reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man, writing an exact man.”
