She’s Fortunate to Call Dick Dale ‘Friend’
Thanks for Martin J. Smith’s piece on Dick Dale (“The Fall and Rise of a Guitar Hero,” June 17). He captured Dick’s personality perfectly! My earliest memories are of Dick and me playing as children in Boston. We all moved to L.A., where we were fortunate to see his awesome musical talents grow. He is truly an amazing performer and composer. A few years ago my sister and I took our boys to visit Dick at his compound so that they would know why we’ve always had a special place in our heart for him. Dick truly is a wonderful person, and it’s been one of our great privileges to call him “friend.”
