Allow Our Children to Just Be Children

Re “My Son is Flunking Pre-Kindergarten,” July 14 commentary:
Bravo to Ray Richmond. I too am appalled at the pressure being applied to very young children to attain a certain “standard” before they even reach kindergarten.
This is like saying every 4-year-old has to be an exact height and weight or there is something wrong. Many parents are really stressed out when in some private schools their kindergarten-age children must pass a “test” to be admitted to kindergarten.
Pressured parents are “tutoring” their little ones to ensure passing the test. Can we let children be children?
